Argentina: Police and Church join together to fight human trafficking

The Argentine Federal Police have teamed up with the Oblate Sisters of the Most Holy Redeemer to run training sessions on human trafficking.

The training was delivered to the Police Academy students and covered both the offense of human trafficking and the practical side of an investigation.

The sisters shared their experience and knowledge of assisting and supporting victims of human trafficking and women involved in prostitution. The sisters highlighted the point of view of the victims and focused on the importance of putting the victim at the center of all the activity.

This work is building on a strong existing partnerships between the Church and police in Argentina. This work arises from an initiative of Pope Francis to encourage the global Church and law enforcement to work together to eradicate human trafficking.
