The 30th of July marks the UN day against trafficking in persons. This year the UNODC has chosen responding to the trafficking of children and young people as a focus for the day.

The Global Slavery Index 2018 reported that over 40 million people are living in modern slavery with over 24 million in forced labour and over 15 million in forced marriage, an issue that disproportionately affects women and girls .
